What is Locinode?
Locinode is a free cybersecurity training range with intentionally provided targets, progression, guided learning, community features, and a public Learning Center.
Is it for beginners?
Yes. Beginner challenges and public guides explain the concepts behind an exercise rather than assuming previous security experience.
What am I allowed to test?
You are authorized to interact with the target assigned to your active challenge within its stated objective and scope. That authorization does not extend to unrelated systems, users, or Locinode production infrastructure.
Why do some challenges open Kali?
Some missions provide a disposable Kali workstation so challenge files and tools remain with the isolated environment instead of becoming a general-purpose machine on your personal computer.
Why might normal internet access be restricted?
The restriction helps keep the temporary workstation focused on the assigned challenge network and reinforces the separation between practice targets and unrelated systems.
What happens when a lab expires?
The temporary session is released so resources can be reused. Your account progression can remain even though the training environment is disposable.
What are XP and leaderboards for?
They show progression and add friendly competition. They are not a substitute for understanding the concept, evidence, and defensive lesson behind a challenge.
How do I report a problem?
Use the Report problem control in Locinode so the issue enters the platform's review workflow.
